Garden Projects with Osmo
The summer holidays are in full swing! Finding activities for the kids to do that doesn’t involve a screen can be a challenge; We get it, Encanto is great but let’s stop talking about Bruno. Our summer holiday garden projects involve the kids getting some fresh air, vitamin D and improving the garden, win-win!
Bring Your Shed Back to Life
Depending on the size of your garden, your shed typically takes up a large footprint. So, you want to ensure it looks its best. After putting hard work into the maintenance of your garden, you don’t want a flaky, tired shed to spoil the scenery. Get the kids involved in bringing it back to life and let it take pride in your garden.

Climbing Frame of Many Colours
If your kids are lucky enough to have wooden climbing frames in the garden, then this could be a great job that they could ‘project manage’. Why not let them choose a fun shade from the RAL or NSC colour chart – Country Colour can be mixed to any shade. This will allow their creativity to flow! They can use their new colourful climbing frame with pride all summer long, safe in the knowledge that the wood is protected from wear, and our Country Colour is child friendly!

Restore an Old Bench
Whether you have an old bench of your own, or find one on Facebook Marketplace, restoring the wood is fun and rewarding. We love the project DIY Mum shared on Instagram using Osmo! Most of our exterior range is ideal for benches, however the most pigmented the colour is, the better it is from protecting wood from weathering. Which is why we recommend using our Country Colour! A wooden bench is an underrated piece of garden furniture, when restored and protected correctly it can live on for years!

Project Prep
Every project requires some prep. If your wood has an existing finish on it, give it a sand back or use some paint stripper. Whilst manual sanding and very close supervision on sanding tools for older kids is fine, we would recommend an adult to use the paint stripper with the correct PPE.
If there are any areas of greying wood, we would suggest using some Wood Reviver Power Gel to bring the wood back to life – This is odourless, biodegradable and great for kids to get involved by either scrubbing away or using the hose to wash the gel away – Very satisfying stuff!
Depending on the wood, it may require a weathering period, you can find out by taking our online quiz here.
Finishing projects in Country Colour means there is an option for everyone! This product is highly weather resistant, contains no biocides and can be mixed to any RAL or NSC colour. When dry, the finish is human, animal and plant friendly too!
