New Feature with Recycled Wood
Renowned for it’s magnificent coffee, Cricks Café in North London was looking for facelift. Simon, owner of Cricks Café, contacted Steve, from the Wood Store to ask for his help. Steve and Simon have been friends for many years, and so knew just the solution! What a better combination than a timeless wooden feature made from recycled wood, and protected with Osmo.
The Wood Store is a charity specialising in reclaiming, restoring and supplying wood for both commercial and domestic projects. Their aim is to stop wood from ending up in landfill or being incinerated. Sustainability at its finest. You can see below some of their fantastic recycled wood projects! As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Recycling Victorian Roofing Boards
Reclaimed wood was a natural choice for the cladding for Simon’s café till point. In this case The Wood Store chose reclaimed Victorian roofing boards.
With the wood providing a lovely warm colour and great character, it was a nice contrast to the formica top. The wood was sanded back to a P120 grit, then received the first coat of Polyx®-Oil Original 3062 Matt.
Once dry, the wood was denibbed with a denibbing cloth, then finished with a light top coat and a further denib.
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original is a great choice for recycled wood projects. The natural oils nourish the wood, whilst the hardwaxes protect the surface from wear and resist against liquid. The Polyx®-Oil Original is available in four various finishes, all ideal for commercial and home projects.
It’s important for The Wood Store to use an environmentally friendly product, which is why they have always used Osmo for protecting wooden all commercial jobs. At Osmo, our products are made from sustainable natural ingredients. Take a look at our ingredients page for more information
