Once a tile floor, wall, or backsplash has been installed, care should be taken to prevent any future fungal or bacterial growths that will harm both the aesthetics and longevity of the tile and grout.
Osmo Concrete Oil 610 is a colour intensifying natural oil grout sealer. The product contains a small amount of natural hard wax to create a thin layer of protection for floors and wall grouts, once dry and cured.
Here are a few key details to keep in mind when preparing for the tile installation.

Why You Need to Use Grout Sealer
When dried grout is left unsealed, it provides an open invitation for fungus growth, colonisation of bacteria, and provides the perfect substrate-medium for stubborn dirt and stains.
Grout – which is, essentially, a mixture of cement and sand – is also sensitive to fluctuations of the surrounding environment. For this reason, it’s best to use a grout sealer to extend the life, texture, and appearance of your bathroom and tiles.
What Type of Grout Sealer Should I Use?
There are a variety of grout sealers on the market today which offer a lasting seal, but usually there are drawbacks to using such products. Solvent-based sealers are known to evaporate relatively quickly and can often come with strong odours, which is especially unpleasant in small working spaces.
In comparison, water-based products are often more vulnerable to environmental fluctuations and requires more frequent maintenance.
These details promote the use of a more natural alternative, which is why Osmo Concrete Oil 610 is ideal for sealing grout in showers, floors, and other areas of the bathroom. Expect the colour of the dried grout to appear intensified and wetted following application of Osmo Concrete Oil 610.

Application Suitability
This natural oil-based product can also be used for the following surfaces:
- Absorbent, non- sealed floor tiles
- Absorbent, non-sealed cement based wall panelling, and wall tiles
- Absorbent, non sealed cement or stone interior windowsills
- Any dry, porous concrete surface
Once cured, the Concrete Oil will provide a microporous finish to the surface, which does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Please note, the natural oil will enhance the colour of the dried grout. On white coloured grouts some yellowing may be apparent – always trial apply before application. Always remove excess Concrete Oil from non-porous tile surfaces ( eg Glazed or Porcelain tiles)
Due to its natural formula, the Concrete Oil 610 will not benefit or improve the some surfaces, and therefore is not recommended for:
- Fully vitrified porcelain
- Ceramic tiles
- Non-porous floors, walls, surfaces and tiles
- Any outdoor surfaces – Discover 620 Oil for Exterior Applications
- Pre-sealed cement based grouts
