Spruce up your stone & terracotta pots for the summer
When summer comes around, homeowners tend to look at sprucing up their gardens to create a welcoming outdoor space. Not everyone has the budget to redesign the space or refurb existing furniture and surfaces. But that shouldn’t stop you, as small improvements can help make a big difference.
One example is the introduction of outdoor plant pots. Adding some pots with little shrubs, succulents or colour seasonal flowers can immediately uplift the appearance of the garden. There are a number of options out there when it comes to plant pots, but both terracotta and stone are popular with homeowners.
Nothing beats the richness and texture of natural stone like granite, limestone and slate or the warmth of terracotta. As natural products, they do require protection to prevent staining and to repel water and dirt.
Osmo Stone and Terracotta 620 Oil will do just that. It is an easy-to-use breathable finish that will protect your pots and keep them looking fresh and new, adding the perfect focal points to your garden for years to come.
To apply the finish, the stone or terracotta must be completely dry, with any existing sealant or oils removed first. It is also essential that the surface is frost-free, so tackle this job on a dry, temperate day. The stone and terracotta sealer comes ready for use, so simply open the can, stir well and away you go!
Cover and protect any substrates that are sensitive to solvents – such as plastic and plexiglass. Then, working in small areas at a time, ensure the product is applied thinly and consistently with a small brush, avoiding any pooling or streaks. If you do get any excess build up, simply remove it with a lint free cloth.
The drying time is 8-10 hours, but this will depend on ventilation to the area and/or item; then apply a second thin coat following the process as before.
The finish impregnates and penetrates the surface, enhancing the natural colour and leaving a permanent wet effect, keeping it looking like new, for longer. It is benzine free and well within the EU VOC limits; making it healthy for you, your garden and the item you are applying it too.
Osmo Stone and Terracotta Oil can also be used on other surfaces such as paving and window sills.
