Natural Oil Woodstain Uplifts Garden Workshop
After being diagnosed with PTSD, which was caused by military service on operational tours, it became apparent to Kendell that holding down a normal job would be extremely difficult.
With the help of a brilliant NHS psychologist, he discovered that being creative with woodwork, painting and gardening helped with managing his anxiety.
The workshop is fully insulated, and the outside is cladded in thick, rough sawn timber, fascia and the corner trims are planed wood, all of which are now protected by Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain Ebony 712.
“With this in mind, I decided to build a workshop in the garden which would give me the opportunity to develop my woodwork and restoration skills. This has allowed me to incorporate my therapy into my job. I also use the workshop for yoga – it’s the perfect sanctuary.
“I wanted a finish that would look stunning and stand the test of time. Using Osmo was inevitable.
“After leaving the military, I was taught how to spray cladding, doors and windows by a true craftsman with over 50 years’ experience in the industry. He conducted an interesting test on products that he wanted to use long term. He sent different timbers coated in Osmo and other well-known brands to be weathered in the south of France, north of Scotland and in the Midlands.
“Osmo came out on top, so when I started making unique items from wood, Osmo was the logical option.”

A decorative product for all exterior wood, Natural Oil Woodstain offers a high-quality finish that allows the wood to breathe and reduces the risk of swelling and shrinkage.
Acting as a protection against all weather conditions, it prevents mould, algae and fungal decay as well ensuring the wood doesn’t crack, flake, peel or blister.
Before applying the Natural Oil Woodstain, Kendell used a dust brush to clean off the rough sawn timber. The fascia and corner trims were given a light sand for perfect adhesion.
Kendell pointed out that taking a few minutes to read the product data provided can really help you to achieve the most wonderful outcome when using Osmo.
“Applying Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain was made easy and enjoyable due of the quality of the product. Even my little boys got involved. Once I started applying it, I could instantly see the protection being added, and the smell was pleasant.
“Although the Natural Oil Woodstain dried quickly, the time scale for completing the paintwork became irrelevant, because I find painting really therapeutic and grounding.
“My workshop is predominantly built from reclaimed materials, so Osmo being eco-friendly aligned perfectly with my values.
“The end result is quite overwhelming, as this space means so much to me. Knowing that my workshop is protected with a product I trust means that it is one less thing for me to be anxious about. It looks superb and seeing raindrops roll off it makes me smile, as it is evident that Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain is living up to my expectations.”
