Decked Out for Summer
With lockdown coming into effect in England this Spring – and the prospect of a long hot summer – a husband and wife duo in Burgess Hill decided to upgrade their garden to provide them with an inviting outdoor space.
Having previously painted their fence, they turned their attention to the tired looking decking and purchased several products from Osmo UK to transform the appearance of the surface and make it safe to walk on in all weather conditions.
“We had not done anything to the decking since we moved into our house over three years ago. It had greyed and had become quite dangerous to walk on, especially in winter, as it was slippery when it rained. The overall appearance was unattractive and when we updated our fencing, it made the decking look even worse.”

After initially removing the debris from the decking, Ryan used a scrubbing brush to apply Osmo Decking Cleaner to remove the ingrained dirt. He was immediately impressive by how much the decking improved by just using the cleaner.
Decking Cleaner is a special concentrated dilution for cleaning untreated or oiled wooden decking and garden furniture. It is water soluble for quick, easy and thorough decking maintenance and it leaves the surface resistant against soiling and water.
For the next stage, Ryan used Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel to remove the grey colour from the decking and freshen it up.
This gel is specially developed to restore the wood back to original colour and character.
Easy to apply with a brush, even on vertical structures thanks to the non-drip formula, the deep penetrating effect of the gel is most effective on untreated surfaces with results showing within just 30 minutes. Having prepared the surface fully, it was now time to apply the new finish.
Ryan decided to opt for the 007 Teak Oil so that it would match the colouring in the new fence panels and applied it using a padded brush.
Designed to protect, maintain and enhance the wooden surface, Osmo Decking-Oils produce a smooth satin finish which is water and dirt resistant. The microporous finish consists of natural vegetable oils and waxes which allows the wood to breathe, reducing the risk of swelling and shrinkage over time. The professional nature of the finish means that it will not crack, flake, peel or blister.
