Forest Edge Furniture gives Osmo the seal of approval
Forest Edge Furniture is a family-run business based in New Forest, Hampshire, making beautiful rustic furniture and home décor from locally reclaimed wood.
The company creates a variety of products, from candle holders and serving trays to desks and side tables. One popular item is the luxury bespoke wooden bath caddy, each is handmade and individual. Design features include a wine glass holder, a safe rest for phones or tablets and space for tealights; creating the ultimate relaxing bathroom experience.
As Ian Holloway of Forest Edge Furniture explains, the aim of the caddy is to allow people to “relax in the bath with their favourite drink and watch their favourite show with candles setting the atmosphere”.
Forest Edge Furniture’s wooden bath caddies are available in four colours and Ian uses Osmo to provide the different finishes depending on the client’s preference.
Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints in Terra, Amber, Graphite and Honey are used, followed by a coat of semi-matt clear to finish; two coats of clear can also be an option. Ian uses a lint-free cloth to apply the stain, followed by the clear coat applied with a brush. For Ian, the Polyx-Oil resistance to water is crucial, as is the protection it offers to the wood and the quality of the final appearance.
“Using the finishes is so easy and seeing the wood stain and transform is so satisfying. I needed a water-repellent product, what with the caddies being used in a bathroom full of moisture, and Osmo works perfectly sealing them. I used a different finish when I first started my business, but then I saw the Osmo Instagram page and tried a product – and loved it. I asked a few questions first to the customer service team and they were more than happy to help. I make a few products and use Osmo on them all. I am starting to make live edge furniture and I’m excited to see the results using Osmo products on them.”
